I am an early childhood educator and spent my last year teaching first grade at a low-income school in inner city Chicago. My classroom of 32 students was comprised of over 80% ELL students, 99% of whom are from a Hispanic background. In addition to my experiences in Early Childhood, I grew up overseas in Chiang Mai, Thailand and am familiar with the complexities of growing up amidst two different cultures and identities. A self-identified third-culture kid, I lived in Thailand for 15 years and continue to travel back to visit my family and cultural roots.
